Why use Photoconnect?
Pressure
is always on to cut costs while finding the right image - so you
should add Photoconnect to your options. We allow you to find specialists
for your subject area and by dealing direct, frequently with the
person who created the image, you can get superlative images with
great service at prices that match or beat the generalist agencies.
Use Photoconnect to buy images you see on the
site or, when you see a style you like, as a gateway to similar
images.
Can buyers download "at the press of
a button" high resolution images from the site?
Not one touch, but sometimes a few keystrokes
will get you there. Normally buyers contact photographers, libraries
or agencies to deliver the images.
However
many images
on this
site are linked directly to sources where you can obtain a fast
download.
If not is a rush, why not talk to the seller
about other images and licensing options. This approach is much
more flexible
than the instant download and can give you an edge in finding
the very best image to fit your needs.
How is the image delivered?
The options will vary depending on the source.
Please discuss with the seller.
Where can I find more information to help me
understand licenses?
the seller.
There are examples of licenses on this site
but the final license in place will be the one agreed between you
and
the seller.
What is a release?
A model or property release is a written agreement
between the model/property owner and the photographer whereby the
model/owner gives his/her permission to the photographer to use
the photographs commercially. Releases generally permit the use
of the image(s) for all purposes, with exceptions for controversial,
sensitive or defamatory uses. See more here.
It is ultimately the responsibility of the image
buyer to ensure all images have any relevant releases and that
the images are used appropriately. However if you as a seller state
that a release is in place then you must be prepared to provide
a copy of that release if the buyer so requests. You should in
any case make the buyer aware of any use restrictions that might
apply.
Please be aware that royalty free
images that feature people or property should be restricted to
editorial use if they do not have releases. Royalty free does not
mean unfettered use - read more here.
How can I pay?
How payment is to be collected will vary from
photographer to library to agency. It is to your advantage to
have in place a means of making credit card payments but payments
can often be made by direct bank transfer (subject to a short delay
in clearing funds) or same day transfer (which is more expensive).
Remember that you may be dealing with a photographer,
library or agency that you have little knowledge of. Photoconnect
does not vet the standing of sellers on this site - take appropriate
precautions
Will I be supplied a TIFF or
JPG?
Ask the seller - the vast majority supply top
quality .JPGs.
When it is delivered and printed in most media
the highest quality JPG should be indiscernible
from a
TIFF
unless
resort
is
made
to magnifying glasses. If however a JPG is subjected to consecutive
adjustment and saves then the quality will deteriorate. TIFFs
may be ten or more times the size of JPGs but have the advantage
that
after they are manipulated and saved, that action of saving the
image does not degrade image quality. They however take longer
to upload and download so they are less convenient for transmission
over the internet.
As a buyer you should make a copy of the original
.jpg to be retained as a backup. If manipulating the image, convert
to a TIFF.
Can I get a comp?
Images on this site are copy protected. Contact
the seller for a comp or you may find one available from the seller's
website.
