1. Buyers generally go straight from search engine to images

Unlike other online outlets of stock photography, a buyer rarely comes to photoconnect and carry out a typical keyword search here. That's because most stock photos at photoconnect are found as a result of a search on a particular subject in an internet search engine. Prospective buyers are taken straight to a page here that deals with that stock photo subject matter.

2. Buyers deal direct with the photographer who loses no commission

If you are interested in an image then you deal direct with the photographer who would go on to supply you the image. You have no dealings with photoconnect. Sometimes this leads to pricing advantages, sometimes it means that you can specify just how the image file should be delivered to you, sometimes you can negotiate non-standard licensing terms, sometimes the photographer may have an even better image to fit your needs. You can expect a level of service to deliver an image tailored to your requirements - bespoke stock photography if you'd like to think of it as that.

3. There are few gizmos

The very facilities such as lightboxes and image zooms that add to seaaching efficiency at other agencies will not be found at photoconnect. It's that simplicity which helps buyers find the images they want direct from the search engines. Because images are organised by subject matter the image pages act as natural lightboxes.

4. Licensing is flexible

Photoconnect deals mainly in non generic imagery, stock photos that are not going to be sold by the barrowload. There are no images designated as "Royalty Free". As a buyer all you have to do is communicate to the photographer how you intend to use the image and the photographer will quote a fair price tailored to your needs.

Photoconnect was launched as a business in the middle of 2003. It was originally envisaged by the photographer Scott Hortop as a means of selling his own work in the most efficient and effective way, but soon other photographers were recruited and an unique model evolved. In expanding the site the focus always was on ensuring that the content was searchable by search engines to get content found prominently in internet searches and this was and still is was the particular feature that sets the site apart.
