Occasion(al) photography

It's a little strange that someone who claims to be a professional photograoher should go along to a 50th birthday clebration and plead for forgiveness on the basis that he just does not usually do this sort of thing - you know - take photos of people wearing black ties enjoying themselves. Yet this is what I was doing on Staurday night.

Not only did I enjoy it, but I also am actually rather pleased with the results. I experimented in my usual way and quite often the experiments came off.

And I enjoyed the party too.

Anyway, see my occasion photography here.....

Yell effectiveness update.....

I received the invoice from yell today (ouch!) so thought it worth checking out just how things are progressing on the campaign front.....

So far in November I have had one visitor. That adds to the seven in October (one of whom was me).

That's seven visitors to date, one of whom visited my contact page (a 'conversion for the statistics!') although I did not hear from them.

So in 15 days, seven clicks. Ongoing cost is £4.25 per click.

Since signing up a search on 'Commercial and Industrial Photographer - London' shows up at least 30 adverts for "One Shot Photography", "London Studio Photography" and "London Corporate Photography", all of which seem to operate from the same set of addresses.

What looked to be an equitable playing field with other photographers all of whom seemed to have single adverts seems to have been taken over by a single faceless entity.....

Probably a good explanation for only one click so far this month.

Accidental winner

I was doing an on location 'product shoot' two days ago when I missed the intended taget entirely accidentally and finished up with this photo....

There's a 'time' concept in there somewhere.

Photography assignment - bus shelters

One product of an interesting but long day out recording the new information systems on a new bus route (no cars allowed on this road) in Dartford Kent. I could do with more assignments like this one - client very pleased!

Now it's loaded I see that this photo is not even mine! Copyright is with my assistant, Meeyoung Son.

Southampton football photo day out

If it did not cross the line here then it was judged to have crossed the line seconds later. A goal for Jerome but sadly a defeat for Cardiff...

More Southamton football photos here.

Lifestyle stock photography...

Is there anything more completely artless in the stock photography world than lifestyle? Probably not, particularly when documenting something as completely commercial as people moving home.

So here we have Son and Charlie moving house...

Happy Christmas!

Well not sure looking at this....

My wife is a costume maker - theatrical and period - and often gets to make something a little unusual.

So this is me, (yo,ho, ho), and don't I look miserable.... It's on the way to Alamy and is already on Photoconnect and MyLoupe. The photographer? My 13 year old son Wendel. Didn't he do well!

Latest shoot

I got together with my good friend and oft times assistant Son last Thursday to shoot some lifestyle involving peppers and fruit! Shot in my office / studio using available light - really rather please with results - rude food comes to mind. Quite a giggle.

Now are these RF (classic RF lighting style) or RM (really rather good images)?
