Bespoke services in a standardised world

When dealing with most online stock photography outlets, what you see is very much what you get. Photoconnect photographers in contrast are equipped and ready to provide you with more options:

• Perhaps you would prefer an image in black and white, or toned.
• Perhaps you would like a background thrown out of focus
• Perhaps you would like an original digital 'negative' as well as an upsized image
• Perhaps the image you see is almost perfect - the photographer may have an alternative or could actually go and recapture the same or similar image for you in a different way
• Sometimes what you see is what you want - and that is what you will get!

When buying elsewhere online, the photographer is often an afterthought, receiving less and less of the purchase price (sometimes 25% or worse!) as agencies compete and sub-contract with each other. The image is no longer something special but becomes a commodity. When you buy from Photoconnect, the photographer gets 100% of the purchase price and you are putting in place a personal relationship that can help supply your particular image needs for years to come.

The prices are very competitive

Further, many photographers will give you bespoke options at the price you see for a standard image on the site. This will obviously depend on what you are looking for but you are free to negotiate with the photographer on pricing should your requirements be more complicated.

Delivery of images

For stock photography, purchased images are normally transmitted digitally by the photographer directly to the photography buyer - but also where the image originated in a transparency, 35mm or medium format, that can often be supplied as an alternative, as can a print. Because you are dealing directly with the photographer there is likely to be more flexibility than you have when dealing with large agencies or libraries. The photographer will invoice you directly for your purchase.

For buyers of fine art, a similar principle is followed.

We are relatively new......

Photoconnect is new for 2003. At present it shows images from the collection of Scott Hortop, the founder of the site, and the first photographers that have submitted images.
